Utah State Extension: Caning

For most experienced caners you have a special recipe. If you are a second or third generation caner it has been passed down to you and may be TOP SECRETE! However Utah State has a great resource for the rest of us that may be getting in to it for the first time (or if you want to make sure Grandmas recipe is not going to kill you). Many different factors play in to caning such as climate and altitude so plan accordingly. Also you want to make sure you are going to store them properly. You need a place that is not going to be heavily influenced my out side weather conditions such as freezing or burning temperatures. Now for the fun part visit http://extension.usu.edu/canning/ and explore all the options they have for both fruit and vegetable canning. We will be doing tomatoes, peaches and apple sauce. I will post pictures asap!

Winter Caning!

OK gals I have decided to start this group for all my friends that are not big Church goers. We will try to get together once a month and do a craft or bake or cook or just watch a movie. I have been wanting to do this for quite some time now and our first event will be Sunday October, 2 at 1:00 pm at Suzette Fowlks' home. We will be canning tomatoes, peaches, pares and applesauce. I will post pictures and Recipes after. If you want to join us RSVP via the blog or my cell (801)598-9327. Hope to see you their.
